When you go on stage in front of large audience, do not think about your responsibility or how to impress them, it can make you too nervous. Try to abstract yourself and live the event. If you want to enact a duel, do not ever try to copy everything you saw in anime, it will be either boring or funny. Let us go to staging part.

Fight Rhythm

Your experience determines what rhythm of fight to set. If this is your first event, consider fighting in duel, i.e. between two opponents. You would rather do at least one little break during performance. This can be done either by stopping fight to exchange a couple of phrases or to regain lost weapon. And it will be really wise to record all replicas beforehand as it is difficult to speak while moving and jumping, your breath is not smooth.

You would better train in a very slow rhythm, you force yourself to stay still even in not-so-easy positions. It allows you to make more professional and persuading movements that will impress the public when you do it faster afterwards. Otherwise you run a risk on inaccurate moves that will look amateurish. You do not want to feel haste in a fight.

Cosplay Weapon

When you put on your favorite Naruto costume and other Naruto outfits, the next step would be to find a weapon of your liking if any weapon is needed at all. You should know that it is more difficult to enact cosplay appearance without weapon. It required an outstanding physical condition and experience; otherwise you will resemble fighting drunkards or beating a weaker opponent. I would recommend duels with weapons, and especially with one of the most popular one, a sword. It can be samurai katana or European flamberg. Comiket 73 Catalog

The exhibition center is divided in East Exhibition Wing, West Exhibition Wing, and Conference Tower. The doujinshi circles (publishing groups) are housed in East Halls 1-6 and West Halls 1-2. The cosplay and corporate booths are located in the 4^th floor of the West Wing. Naruto Cosplay takes place here.

Open Hours – Doujinshis circles are operating  from 10 am to 4 pm, and corporate booths are open from 10 am to 5 pm (except last day of Comiket).

It is especially crowded in the mornings when tens of thousands of eager participants are standing in lines blocking traffic. The committee puts a lot of efforts into organizing these lines and guiding them in open spaces and nearby parks.

To cope with increased traffic most public transportation services in Tokyo change their schedule, it includes Yurkamome elevated train line, the Rinkaisen Train Line, Tokyo Metropolitan Bus Lines.

There is no entrance fee in the Comiket, yet you are strongly encouraged to buy the official catalog.

Each doujinshi circle gets half a desk (90 x 45 cm), a couple of chairs, and some little space for storing inventory. The cost of participation as a doujinshi circle is 7500 yen, or 65 USD per single space. The total number of circles who apply for space is 46 500, and a lottery is held, so that only 80 percent of those actually get a place in the Comiket.

Popular circles attract many people, so they are placed separately in such a way that lines could be extended out into the truck yards. These circles sell thousands of books in a single session of Comiket.

Corporate booths are located on the fourth floor of West Wing. There are about 150 booths housing 130 corporations. The corporations fall into following categories: PC game software manufacturers, comic book publishers, music content publishers, TV and radio stations, as well as retailers that specialize in novelty goods and other items.

There are many activities going on here like rock contests, lotteries, autograph signing with celebrities, and handshaking sessions.

Cosplay Appearances

Many attendees put clothes of their favorite personalities, including manga, anime and/or game characters. There is a special dressing room for cosplay that is setup at the 4^th floor, and the cost of registration is about 800 yen (7 USD). For each male cosplay persons there are 4 or 5 females.

Doujinshi Circles Demographics

Usually it is believed that doujinshi are male dominated, yet statistics show that among participants of doujinshi there are 71 percent women, and only 29 percent are men. The average age of a circle organizer is 28 years, both for male and female.

For general attendees the demographics are different – 57 percent women, and 43 percent men.

The breakdown of circles’ genres is as such – 41 percent manga, 9 percent anime (since manga titles only gain fame following its adaptation into the animated medium, the manga genre is really larger), 30 percent games, and 20 percent other. Breakdown of other genres: 40 percent history, literature, novels, 35% music, celebrity related, sports, 18 percent live action monsters, science fiction, mechanics related, military related, trains and travel, 7 percent critiques and various information booklets.

The Comic Market Preparation Committee and Comiket Ideals

The total staff includes 2400 people, all volunteers. The Committee is a volunteer based organization that has no legal entity status. The Committee was incorporated in 1985, and changed to its present form in 1996.

There are no “customers” in the Comiket. It is operated, maintained and comprised by those who take part in the event.

All participants are treated equally, and the Comiket must always be a place where freedom of expression is maintained. So the Committee must make all possible effort toward securing as much freedom as possible.

So every side supports and ads to a concept of comic market as an open space. Participating circles provide works and concepts, general attendees are readers and supporters of the creative efforts, and staff participants provide the space. So in order to remain a space with the greatest freedoms possible, self-reliance of the participants is important, but the event cannot operate properly without individual moral awareness, mindfulness of manners, and invested interests toward up-keeping this space.

The name Naruto Shippuuden (sometimes spelled Naruto Shippuden and Naruto Sippuden) literally means Hurrucane Chronicles of Naruto, and it is a continuing sequel of Naruto manga series, actually it starts from volume 28 and later.

Naruto is ninja, and everybody knows that. After two years of training with the toad sage Jiraya our hero Naruto returns to his village. His outward appearance has considerably changed, yet he is the same in his heart. Part of the innocence is gone, and there is a melancholy pathos, but his more mature behavior brings to the series something it lacked, seriousness.

The core moral is that the more danger the more responsibility and power. Naruto tries to find new ways of getting rid of his dependence on the nine-tailed demon fox for his power, thus risking his own health with a special Rasengan attack.

Now he encounters much more dangers, but there are friends to support him now. You know that damned Akatsuki team are in the constant search for tailed beasts, so it endangers Naruto and, accordingly, his close companions. Naruto is mostly concerned about his brother, Sasuke Uchiha. Naruto takes part in many fights where he shows his extraordinary power, so he learns a lot, and becomes stronger each time. He is pursuing his goals with the help of his friends. He can do virtually anything.

The series is released in Japan with four or five episodes per disc. Now there are four series of DVDs that are divided by story arc. The first American DVD release was on September 29, 2009. Aside from regular DVD series there will be one named Kakashi Chronicles, Boy’s Life in the Battlefield.

Starting from October 2009 Naruto Shippuuden with English dub will be broadcast weekly, so you can watch Naruto episodes on Disney XD.

Naruto is one of the main anime characters of modern society, with millions of fans all over the world, becoming a hit on both Cartoon Network and Shonen Jump. The author of Naruto manga is Masashi Kishimoto, an anime artist and creative writer.

This popular manga tells about exploits of a group of ninjas who want to become most prominent in their village. Naruto followers dress as their beloved character on parties, sewing clothes with great detail. These colorful manga enacting appearances are known as Naruto Cosplays. The cloth that adults and children use is called Naruto Cosplay Costumes.

When you create your own piece of Naruto Costume, you have to know that Naruto wears orange zip-up jacket and pants resembling a tracksuit. His short hair is yellow and spiky. We see a blue headband on his head. Three black whiskers are drawn on each of his cheeks. He has blue shoes.

A mask on his face extends his clothes and covers almost all of his face. His headband is blue. In the manga he is endowed with special mystic ability in his left eye, so sometimes he wears headband tilted to cover his left eye. When we see his eye, there is a large scar that is stretching from eyebrow to the edge of the mask. His hair is gray, and long bangs sweep forward above his head.

Headbands are a symbol of ninja clan, so everybody wears them in the manga. That is a wide strip of cloth with a metal rectangle in the center. Naruto is the primary hero, protagoist of the series. He has main traits of shonen characters, especially Son Goku. His ambition is to become a Hokage, the most powerful ninja of Konohagakure village. He was ostracized by other villagers due to the misfortune of him being the host of nine-tailed demon fox. His boisterous and cheerful personality gave him the ability to befriend many of ninjas. He is the main hero for Naruto Cosplay performances.

Sasuke Uchiha is a member of Team 7, too. He is a cool genius and a rival to Naruto, an integral part of the main plot. He is one of two members of his family, along with Itachi who killed all the rest. So Sasuke wants only the revenge, to kill his brother. Thus he develops a cold and withdrawn personality. He is not successful in their first encounter, so he decides to leave his village in search for more power.

Sakura Haruno is the only girl in the Team. She was taunted by other children due to her large forehead, and only Ino Yamanaka was able to comfort her. Their friendship started to diminish when they both felt affection for Sasuke Uchiha, though. After Sasuke leaves, she began training with Tsunade, and gained many highly developed skills.

Kakashi Hatake is the leader and sensei of Team 7. He is a kind of easygoing personality. He treats his leading position with detachment, and is always late for meetings. He witnessed a death of his teammates, and acquired some great qualities along with disadvantages of tardiness. Thus he gained a Sharingan eye and a reputation of a skilled ninja.

Orochimary is one of the primary antagonists. He appears pasty and sickly, and is clearly distinguished from the protagonists. He is a former ninja of Konohagapure and a student of the Third Hokage. He wants to obtain immortality, and to destroy his former home. He has an ability to transfer consciousness between different host bodies, and desires to host Sasuke. This is one of the main driving motivations throughout the series.

Akatsuki is an organisation of mischievous ninjas who want nothing less than world domination.

Masashi likes to speak about his plant that died due to poor feeding in his office. Many of his plants did not survive.

Kishimoto tried to make his heroes as unique as possible. Thus he studied a lot of other shonen mangas. He quotes Dragon Ball as one of them to look at, and notes that Son Goku was a key character to influence Naruto Uzumaki, due to his energy and mischief. To make tension and intrigue, he had to create a rival, a “cool genius”, as an archetypal rival character. Thus Sasuke Uchiha was born, with all the necessary qualities.

For main heroine Masashi eventually created Sakura Haruno, with emphasis on her energy and flirtatious spirit. Despite difficulty in depicting her appearance, Sasuke became his favorite character to draw.

When drawing his animation characters, Masashi uses a five-step process: concept and rough sketch, then drafting, inking, shading and in the end – coloring. Sometimes he used an airbrush but afterwards decided that it requires too much cleanup, and abandoned it.

Kishimoto was very particular on designs for the village of Konohagakure, the main initial setting for the series. He tells that initially it was created spontaneously, without much thought, but admits that he took a lot from his home in Okayama prefecture. The village does not belong to any time or place, it is “just a place in (his) head”. He included some modern elements such as convenience stores but neither projectile weapons nor vehicles.

He conducts his own research into Japanese culture a lot for better details and reference material for his “Japanese fantasy world”, as he needs to “set certain rules systematically” to convey the story in a logical way.  He also wanted to draw in Chinese zodiac tradition which has a long presence in his country.

He said that Naruto would not have any firearms.  He may make use of automobiles or air craft, and some simple computers, like “eight-bit computers, but definitely not sixteen-bit”.

The manga first appeared in Shueisha in 1999, and is going on and being serialized with 47 tankobon volumes. Later on it was transformed into anime. It premiered across Japan on October 3, 2002. The first series included 220 episodes. A sequel to the original anime, Naruto Shippuden, started airing from February 15, 2007. The English adaptation of the series appeared in the USA Today Booklist several times. Naruto fans enjoy the balance of fighting and fun scenes and enact them in Naruto cosplay.

Naruto is a boy who has a fox demon with nine tails sealed inside him. That demon attacked his village Konohagakure twelve years ago and killed a whole bunch of people. The leader of villagers, the Fourth Hokage, sacrificed his life to get rid of the miscreant and sealed him in newborn Naruto. Nevertheless, habitants of Konoha regarded innocent boy as a demon himself, and thus mistreated him throughout his short life.

Our hero was not aware of his supernatural powers and of presence of a demon in himself before his encounter with Mizuki, a renegade ninja. Then Naruto became capable of Jutsu Shadow Clone technique that creates clones.

Later on Naruto and his friends Sasuke Uchina and Sakura Haruno formed a team named Team 7, under experienced sensei Kakashi Hatake. Their squad was in charge of completing missions for the benefit of their village. During one of their exams, a well-known criminal Orochimaru attacked the village killing their Hokage. This bastard wanted Sasuke Uchiha to become his comrade due to powerful genetic heritage of the boy. Sasuke believes Orochimaru to help him with his revenge against his brother, and joins him. Naruto has been sent to fight Sasuke to return him to Konoha, but with no success.

Then Naruto leaves Kohoha for two and a half years of training under Jiraya’s tuition. Then we see a lot of fighting and events with Team 7 and attack of Akatsuki clan attempting to kill nine tailed beasts including the one sealed in Naruto. All kinds of these events are enacted in Naruto cosplay, with gorgeous costumes and attributes.

It is actually a kind of performance art whose participants put on elaborate costumes and accessories according to their favorite character or an idea. Their source is usually from Japan or China, its famous manga or anime stories, comic books or fantasy stories.

Cosplayers form a whole division of subculture, not only wearing fictional outfits, but also reenacting scenes and inventing behavior in accordance with character’s lifestyle and habits. Some people define cosplay as just putting on a costume, excluding all acts of performance.

In Japan you will see cosplay at public events and at dedicated parties in nightclubs and other amusement places. Some places to hold cosplay events include Tokyo’s Harajuku district. Another district, Akinahara, contains a lot of cosplay cafes where waitresses wear anime dress, and these costumes are very popular.

One of the most popular events for cosplayers is the doujinshi market Comiket which takes place twice a year, during summer times and in winter. Thousands of participants gather on the roof, despite often unbearably hot or cold weather. Naruto cosplays are often conducted at the place.

Reiya, pronounced as “layer”, is the internal term that cosplayers call themselves in Japan, Naruto cosplayers among them. Paparazzis, or photographers who attend these events, are called cameko, of camera boys. Some tension started to grow between camekos and reiyas due to excessive attention of the photographers to female players. Some restrictions have been introduced in Comiket as related to photography.

Even though cosplay has been introduced in Japan in 1978, one should not mistakenly suggest that it is considered a general Japanese hobby. Despite its popularity, many people consider cosplay, and Naruto cosplay, to be a silly idea.

It is important to know that every detail of a cosplay costume is of great importance. Costumes should meticulously adhere to character’s style and dress. Many cosplayers take special education in the crafts of sculpture, fiberglasswork, etc., to achieve the desired look and feel. Numberless tutorials have been created to provide a supply for this demand.
